Bones!
I know I've mentioned already that one of my many goals for 2020 is to write and send 20 letters. This is letter #5. Perhaps it's silly to write you since, in normal circumstances, I spend more time with you than any other human, but it would be weird if I didn't include you. This project has been good exercise for my writing muscles and a low-pressure way to express myself. I get much enjoyment out of writing but I am often stunted by the pressure to finish an essay, play, or story. I can't help but fast-forward in my mind to the end product and the process of sharing it, before it's even finished. I suppose so much of my profession is evaluating and developing other people's art — which I love doing — that I can't turn off my inner critic. As with most things, the more that one does it, the easier it becomes.
